Seth Apter Die. A Wendy Vecchi, Eye Stamp and some Creative Expressions Pixie Powders!

Hi everyone, a quick post to share this Tag with you, that was such fun to make!
Pixie Powders from Creative Expression in Sun Yellow, Mango Blaze, Scarlet Mist and a tiny amount of Midnight Sky. Just sprinkled over a tag that I had covered in Clear Gesso. Sprinkle the colours while the gesso is still wet. Using a small paint brush, I  brushed the Pixie Powders together to create the background, sprayed on some water to blend them and then added some more of the ''Sun Yellow'' to highlight some areas   These powders are FULL of lovely Mica so the shine is just stunning and I used them, along with water, to colour the American Seam Binding I've used for the Tag.

I used a background stencil from my stash, along with some more of the Midnight Sky powder, that I had mixed with water to give me paint, then sponged over the stencil. When dry, I highlighted some areas with a white charcoal pencil and a white ink pen.  A Seth Apter Die called ''Splatter Proof''. I use this die a lot! A Seth Apter Circle Stamp along with my Wendy Vecchi ''Eye'' and a word stamp that says it all... !  ''LET'S STIR IT UP''
We British are stirring everyone up at the moment ... including ourselves!
It will all ''come out in the wash'' as my Mum used to say...
Take care

Sweet Poppy Stencils. New Designs June 2016 - A Picture Tutorial, Steampunk Dragonfly and Brusho Paints.

Yo! A Picture Tutorial  for you today, featuring a Brand New Stencil, from Sweet Poppy Stencils The Steampunk Dragonfly. Designed by the very talented, Emma Cronin.
I've put together a quick step by step tutorial for you .
A square, 13cms piece, of cold pressed Watercolour card,
Versamark Ink
WOW Opaque Bright White Super Fine
 Embossing Powder

Impression Obsession Random Circles Stamp
This is a very large stamp!
Stamp with Versamark Ink and heat emboss the Circles Image

Sprinkle/shake on tiny
Oi! I said TINY, amounts of the Brusho Paint crystals,
in a few colours of your choice.
Mist with water to activate the paints.
Don't over do it with the water. Get a look you like

When the card stock is dry ( I did not use a heat gun because of the embossing) tape the stencil down firmly, with low tack stencil tape and stencil the image using black ink. I found Black Stazon worked well for this and I also blended some around the edges too.

Randomly stamp the Indigoblu Bubbles Stamp towards the outer edges of the card. I used Stazon, again, as it allowed me to stamp over the white embossing. I cleaned my stamp with baby wipes, not chemical cleaners!

The ink dries fast, so in I went, to decorate the ''bubbles'' stamped area, with a Gold Glitter Pen and some Dr Ph.Martin's 'Bleed Proof' White, that comes in a jar and stays white over Brusho Paints.
I dipped the end of a small ball tool into the Bleed Proof stuff and applied it with that.

Next came a Seth Apter designed die cut, by Spellbinders called ''Splatter Proof '' available from Oyster Stamps.

A little more Gold Glitter Pen here and there and its job done...

I hope you found this Post useful.
I'm starting up a Facebook Page for my Tutorials,
linking to my Blog here...Its fun and I like to share.

Thank you so much for looking at my blog today .
A Canvas next!

Candy Box Crafts MDF Butterfly featuring Tim Holtz Butterfly Dies - Tutorial

Good morning everyone. The picture tutorial I posted yesterday on here has totally gone, so I'm starting over again. Happy days!
Here are the materials you need to create this Butterfly Project.

MDF Butterfly. Candy Box Crafts in the UK.
Centura Pearl Card Stock. White, reverse side, face up.
Tim Holtz Alterations Butterfly Dies. Some come complete with Embossing Folders.

Tim Holtz Texture Fades Embossing Folder, ''Dripping''. I bought mine from Oyster Stamps but they may have sold out. Give 'em a ring on 01634 686823.

Art Basics, Heavy Black Gesso, Oyster Stamps have this too.
Mod Podge, Glossy or Matt, or any other strong Glue Medium.
Inka - Gold Paints (various colours) Treasure Gold Gilding Wax (various colours) Strong Wet Glue, Seed beads, Small white pearls and Five, pearl tipped, ''Hat Pins'' for the Butterfly Antennae.
Old paint brush for the applying the Glue Medium, Sponge brush for applying the Inka Gold paint, finger for applying the Treasure Gold or other gilding wax......and this is what you do.
                                        ......
Run two pieces of card stock through your embossing machine in the 'Dripping' embossing folder. Apply plenty of Mod Podge or other gel medium, to the embossed images and stick down firmly to the top of the Butterfly wings, one on each wing.

When totally dry, use a heat gun if you wish, cut / trim the card stock to snugly fit the wing shape.
Cut and emboss, using the Dies, lots of different sizes of Butterflies and stick them down, single layer, but overlapping in places, all over the MDF Butterfly shape.

Cut, emboss and stick more butterflies, building up texture, depth and dimension by layering up the same image on top of each other.
Some butterflies on my project are two or three die cuts deep others are four or five. When you are happy with the design of your work its time to break out the Heavy Black Gesso. Apply a coat of the gesso using an old paint brush, all over everywhere and everything. Dry, using a heat gun if you wish and then do another coat. Dry.

Ensuring all the black gesso is totally dry, apply the Inka - Gold paints using a sponge brush and any colours you like as they blend together very well. Apply  the Gilding Wax as well until you have a ''Look'' you like. Messy time but fun!

Plonk on some wet glue, here and there, in a 'river' and shake on some seed beads. Stick on some pearls and fix the five 'Hat Pins' to the back of your butterfly with strong sticky tape/foam. I will paint the back of my project with more of the Black Gesso to finish it off.

So, all done and dusted. Please message me if you need any help or have any questions. I hope you found this tutorial useful. Please let me know if you, or your craft group make this project.... be fun to see. Easy innit!
Thanks for looking  I do hope Blogger leaves this post alone and I have not forgotten anything!
